Virginia Vineyard

In a small kitchen space between the refrigerator and a doorway was enough space to paint this small mural. The concept was to paint a Virginia Vineyard and make it interesting enough to merit the space.

I painted it as a view out of a window by copying the existing molding of the house for the window frame. The doors had to be open as wide as possible so not to take away space for the landscape. The landscape itself had to be dynamic and interesting.

The vanishing point is on the far right of the painting where the viewer will be located. The rows of vines follow the contour of the land down and then up to the viewer. In the middle ground a typical Eastern barn and silo can be seen peeking up over the hill. In the background are the Shenandoah Mountains of Virginia. Up in the sky we see a V formation of migrating geese to finish this scene.
